Inauguration of Mark Peterson's White Noise photographic exhibition on American white supremacism, in the presence of writer Claudia Rankine.
White Noise is a series of photos initially conceived as a tool to investigate the divisive climate that had settled in the country in the aftermath of Donald Trump's election and captured the crescendo of white nationalism and autocracy that developed during his presidency. Peterson explored the White House's rhetoric on immigration and Islam and how it echoes nationalism, Western chauvinism, neo-Nazism and the ideas of all those who call for the creation of an ethnic state in America. Rankine founded the Racial Imagery Institute, where the exhibition was exhibited along with others on the dramatic effects of associating "whiteness" with the idea of universality and normality, even humanity.
